		<description>I, too, am a fan of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett.  The Las Vegas of today often reminds me of the Los Angeles Chandler described.  Las Vegas is still rough around the edges, and the still upaved roads are reminiscent of dusty Mulholland Drives.  Today&#039;s Vegas is similar in size to old L.A., too.  Even without &quot;the mob,&quot; the city generates plenty of news that would fit well into crime novels.  It&#039;s one reason I live here -- there&#039;s an unending supply of fascinating things to write about.</description>
